Traveling over dirt roads also did not allow people to ship products effectively and took a very long to travel from point a to point b.

The introduction of roads, canals, and rail roads enable effective ways of travel.
Roads allowed overland travel to become a little bit easier but not very much.
Steam boats allowed a new way of traveling, which was more effective than overland traveling.
Steam powered trains allowed overland traveling to be more effective and much easier.
The transportation revolution really bolstered the nations economy, allowing it to become successful.
